Description Brian Levine CLA 2002-11-18 22:58:10 EST
Many development efforts require that certain information be included in check-
in comments. Often wrapper scripts are provided to ensure that this
information is entered in a specific format. It'd be great if the CVS commit
dialog could be customized to facilitate this sort of thing within Eclipse

I agree that this would be a useful feature. I don't think we'll have time to
address it in 2.1 though.
Comment 2 Ed Burnette CLA 2003-08-21 15:15:34 EDT
I'm going to vote for this one too. In our push process we require a problem
ticket number in every push comment. This is enforced by a check on the CVS
server side. Currently all developers have to insert "Fixid NNNNN: " in front
of the real comment in Eclipse's CVS commit dialog, and if they forget or get
the format wrong they get an obscure error message (pre-commit failed).

An extension point that let a plugin define an alternate commit dialog would
be useful here.

Related to this, it would be handy for a plugin to be able to specify additional
operations that would occur everytime a file is committed -- such as applying a
standard formatting to a Java file before checking it into CVS. If hooks into
the CVS commit process were included, such plugins could be created.

This is related to Team Policy supprt which is on the 3.1 plan (see bug 71126)

As of now 'LATER' and 'REMIND' resolutions are no longer supported.
Please reopen this bug if it is still valid for you.
