Java error report
I attached also the Java error report. I don't know much about JVMs so I do
not report it to Sun. Feal free to forward it if you think this may be a good
idea.

I suggest you take it up with the Subclipse team. Bandwidth on eclipse.org has been saturated since the 3.4.2 release, you may just have to wait a few days for traffic to settle down. We have done a lot of efforts on cancellation and robustness of install in 3.5 to avoid further problems like these. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 266198 *** *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 266243 *** |
Created attachment 126830 [details] Eclipse log file Build ID: 3.4.0 Steps To Reproduce: Hi, I tried in the last days to update Eclipse and it is a big pain. Apart from the fact that updating from 3.4.0. to 3.4.2(?) doesn't work it also was very, very, very slow (took more than one day trying to download a few files on a fast connection and I was forced to stop it). All the time I get exceptions, crashes of Eclipse, NPE, ... A few examples: On the console I found: Artifact repository out of sync. Overwriting /home/jens/local/share/eclipse/plugins/org.eclipse.platform.doc.isv_3.4.2.r342_v20090204.jar and also: org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.touchpoint.natives.Util Status OK: org.eclipse.equinox.p2.touchpoint.nativ e code=0 org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.touchpoint.natives.Zip something went wrong when unzipping null org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.touchpoint.natives.Util Status OK: org.eclipse.equinox.p2.touchpoint.native code=0 zipfile: /home/jens/local/share/eclipse/p2/org.eclipse.equinox.p2.cor e/cache/binary/org.eclipse.sdk.ide.launcher.gtk.linux.x86_64_3.4.2.M20090211-1700 null org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.touchpoint.natives.Util Status OK: org.eclipse.equinox.p2.touchpoint.native code=0 destination: /home/jens/local/share/eclipse null The file in question /home/jens/local/share/eclipse/p2/org.eclipse.equinox.p2.core/cache/binary/org.eclipse.sdk.ide.launcher.gtk.linux.x86_64_3.4.2.M20090211-1700 contains HTML: <html><head><title>Too Busy</title></head><body><h2>Server too busy</h2>The server is currently too busy to process your request. Please pick a mirror site for your download.</body></html> I agree that it is hard to unzip a HTML file! I will attach the last parts of the error log and also a crash report. After both crashs I noticed eclipse was not even able to start, because the execute permission on eclipse vanished. A simple chmod a+x eclipse fixed it. I would try another mirror but I don't know how. At least in the preferences no string matched "mirror". And another problem: All sites I added to the update dialog vanished. Now it only contains "Ganymede" and "The Eclipse Project Updates".
