Description Andrew Mak CLA 2009-02-25 18:11:09 EST
This is actually about the classic update, please move to the right component if it does not belong here.

Our product is built on 3.4.x and there are quite a number of features and plugins. After enabling the classic update via capabilities, we find that going to Help > Software Updates > Find and Install for the first time takes a long time to load (approx 2+ minutes). During this time it looks as if the workbench is hung. Subsequent attempts to bring up the classic updater in the same workspace seem fine.

Hi, any status on this?

What update site(s) are you contacting? Do they have a site digest file (digest.zip)?

I'm not quite sure how to check which update site it is connecting to. And I was under the impression that it not connecting to any update sites at that point, because the first page that comes up (which is where the delay occurs) only has 2 options: Search for updates of the currently installed features, and Search for new features to install. If I select the second option and click Next, then I get a page that asks me to select the update sites to search.

The Eclipse Update component is no longer under development, and no longer exists in the Eclipse Platform 4.x stream. If this problem still occurs in Eclipse Platform 4.2 or later, please enter a new bug report against Equinox p2.
