When I go to http://dev.eclipse.org/newslists/news.eclipse.platform/ I see November 2008 as the last entry in the index.

The posts at http://www.eclipse.org/newsportal/thread.php?group=eclipse.platform are more up to date.

Looks like a stale lock file was getting in the way.  I've cleared it and re-run the archiver.
