Description Valentin Baciu CLA 2002-11-05 15:14:05 EST
Hello,

Today I discovered a great feature in the latest integration build
200211050827: the ability to "organize imports" for a whole package. Two thumbs
up for this feature! If this feature was there before, I overlooked it.

Now, why not extend it to provide source formatting and javadoc stub generation
at the package/project level. Or provide "auto-formatting" or "auto-javadoc-
generation" during the save operation. Of course, we would then need an option
to disable the feature to not annoy other folks who like their code un-
organized :-)

Keep up the good work!

Valentin

If I had to choose, I'd rather have the menu item rather than the option to
format on save so I could do many files at once. Also the formatting sometimes
doesn't do what I want or exposes a brace level bug so having it run after I
edit a file would make me worry about what the result was.

Aside: Could someone with permissions change the summary to
be: "Provide "batch" source formatting/javadoc generation in the menu for an
entire package/project/folder [javadoc] [misc]"? I tried but don't have
permission. This is just to provide some extra keywords to cut down on dups
like mine (I searched for format + menu and didn't find this entry).

Thanks for pointing that out.

Not quite a duplicate; the new defect doesn't say anything about javadoc.

Closing old bugs.
