Description Paul Webster CLA 2008-11-14 08:06:08 EST
Hi webmasters,

I need to start producing builds for the Eclipse e4 product. I'm starting to get my PDE automated build together, and I need a place to build (build.eclipse.org?) and a place to publish my builds (on download.eclipse.org?)

I want to start off with my PDE scripts and parts of the CBI, and eventually see if I can migrate to CBI for my builds.

committer IDs to support the build:

pwebster
johna
bbokowski

We can certainly hook you up.

First off, we don't allow for committers sharing one user account; however we *can* do this on build.eclipse.org. The catch is that the shared account cannot commit to CVS nor write to download.eclipse.org. You'd need to use one of the committer accounts to do this. On the flip side, this is no different than if you were maintaining a build infra offsite.

With that said, I can create a userid: e4build for you. You would also get a directory on a local raid array on the build server for your working directory. This working directory is web-browseable[1], so you could leave your test/nightly builds there, and only publish 'real' builds to download.eclipse.org.

If any of this sounds good, let me know and I'll set this up.

OK, let's do that then. It'll be me running the builds (first manually, and then more and more integrated with CBI), but it sounds good from the offset for the userid to be the e4build userid.

Once that's setup, I guess I just need to understand "where" to kick the builds off from. It looks like I would be publishing any 'real' builds to /home/data/httpd/download.eclipse.org/e4/...

Thanx, Denis.

UserID e4Build has been created (note the uppercase B). I have sent you (Paul) some instructions on using the Build server. Please forward this info to your crew.
