Wenfeng, Which team should handle the intro component(contribute to welcome page)? About the brand icon, we currently use the same one as platform team. Is there any need to use a new icon presents BIRT? I think Zhiqiang can help on contributing to the welcome page. He can asks Rima if she can help on the content and icon. Sample extension
I've attached a sample BIRT welcome extension. To complete the support, we still need following works: 1. Provide a separate "overview" page in BIRT help content and change the link in "overviewExtensionContent.xml" to point to this page. 2. Decide if we want to contribute "tutorials" in the welcome page. If yes, then which tutorials?(each tutorial is actually a cheetsheet action, we already have some in the BIRT resource plugin). 3. Decide if we want to contribute "samples" in the welcome page. IMHO, BIRT may not need this. 4. Decide if we want to contribute "what's new" in the welcome page. If yes, we need provide a separate "what's new" page in BIRT help content and change link in "whatsnewExtensionContent.xml". 5. Replace all the descriptive text for all strings that start with "(TODO)". 6. Replace all the icons under the "images" folder with BIRT ones. Most of these work need be done by the document team, and the icons by UI designer. The welcome extension can only work under the Eclipse SDK environment, not BIRT all-in-one. You can set up the SDK environment by adding BIRT SDK package to an existing Eclipse SDK application, and replace the original org.eclipse.birt_??.jar with the attached one. Provided overviewExtensionContent.xml to resolve task 1. From what I've seen, you've done enough here to count this 'fixed' for Galileo, but by all means, if you are going to do more, feel free ... I'm just trying to get some bookkeeping done. |
