Although performance did not significantly degrade during the 3.4 release cycle, we were unable to make the level of investment in performance improvements that we had hoped for. In 3.5, we will dedicate significant effort to identifying and ameliorating performance problems, both in typical Eclipse workflows and in more extreme scenarios. [All]

There will be some more performance fixes during the release candidates, but work on this plan item is mostly completed for 3.5. We had a committer dedicated to performance work for most of the release, and many performance fixes were made. Query for bugs fixed in a 3.5 target milestone with the "performance" keyword to see details on the work that happened. Also see umbrella bug 270824 that tracked work during the M7 performance pass.
