Description Andrew Cattle CLA 2008-10-03 14:50:48 EDT
I've noticed that unlike plug-ins, the generator does not check to see if a feature is a pack.gz when generating the repository.

This doesn't actually save very much space per file (around 2kb on a 30kb file) so do we really care?

Is this causing duplicate entries in the repository?

I seem to remember that we don't pack feature JARs on purpose because they most likely don't contain any code.

Not sure what you mean about the duplicate entries in repo thing.

I also thought that there was no gain in packing the feature however when you look at the folder containing the features on downlaod.eclipse.org/eclipse/updates/3.5-I-builds/features you can see that there pack.gz files present.

Moving to releng since we are doing work that we don't need to do.

For more information about the duplicate entries in the artifacts.xml, see Bug 249035
Comment 4 Kim Moir CLA 2008-10-10 10:42:50 EDT
The pack.properties file needs to include a list of features in the pack.excludes list as defined in the updatePackProperties target of buildAll.xml in org.eclipse.releng.eclipsebuilder
