In Ganymede we largely replaced the original platform "Update Manager" with the new p2 platform in Equinox. In our current state, "Update Manager" is still in our builds in Galileo, but what 99% of end users see when they use the platform is p2. The problem is that most users are still entering bugs against Platform Update in bugzilla rather than Equinox p2, which means a daily job of shifting most bugs over to the correct component (there are still a small number of valid bugs targeting Update Manager).

We'd like a way to indicate to casual bugzilla user that Platform Update is not the right place to report bugs. I'm not a bugzilla expert so I'm open to ideas on how to achieve this. The simplest would be to rename the component in bugzilla from "Update" to "Update (legacy)" or "Update (deprecated)". However I know you did something fancy for the "LATER" bug resolution so there might be a better way to do this.

'deprecated' works for me ... But you may also want to add threats to bug 244845 to help solve this problem.

Thanks Denis!

Thx! To cut down the chase of the user, you may want to add RT in front of Equinox/p2 since the location of equinox under RT is far from being obvious.

I think the comma in the component name was causing nastiness. I've renamed the component to Update (deprecated - see RT>Equinox>p2). Queries work, although the component name is part of the query, so existing saved searches that simply used "Update" need to be updated.

Thanks, that seems to work.
