Component: Update (deprecated - use Eclipse>Equinox>p2)Assignee: Platform-Update-Inbox <platform-update-inbox>

Severity: normal

Description Peter Burka CLA 2008-09-29 12:02:21 EDT
Build ID: M20080911-1700

Steps To Reproduce:
1. Install some updates
2. Observe the dialog which appears once the updates are installed:

"It is strongly recommended you restart the system for the changes to take effect. For some add-ons, it may be possible to apply the changes you have made without restarting. Would you like to restart now?

| Yes | | No | | Apply Changes |"

More information:
I had to ask an Eclipse developer what this dialog meant. This is a 'Yes/No' question, but three options are provided!

What happens if I click 'No'? Are the changes discarded? One might assume so, since there is also an 'Apply changes' button'.

This dialog needs to be redesigned.

One option would be to make the buttons more descriptive, e.g.:

| Restart now | | Apply changes next time I restart | | Apply changes without restarting |
