Created attachment 112548 [details]
log file from my workspace

Build ID: ganymede

Steps To Reproduce:
1. Download eclipse ganymede JEE for linux (http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/technology/epp/downloads/release/ganymede/R/eclipse-jee-ganymede-linux-gtk.tar.gz)
2. Extract de compressed file in /opt
3. Launch eclipse with /opt/eclipse/eclipse

More information:
Eclipse first seems to start, let's you choose a workspace, then shows a progress bar.

Then, the splash and the progress bar disappear and an empty window appears. Nothing else...

The file /home/me/workspace/.metadata/.log is attached ("Widget disposed too early" + "org.eclipse.swt.SWTError: XPCOM error -2147467262").

Hi,

I'm not sure it's a duplicate since the bug you mentioned doesn't talk about the "Widget disposed too early" error...

If you think this bug is already resolved, could you please tell me how to launch eclipse ?

Regards

Bug 213194 explains the problem and solution in detail.

In short, you need to make sure you are using XULRunner 1.9 and/or Firefox 3.0 final, and not a beta release. Having either version's beta incarnation lingering around will probably cause problems. If in doubt, remove all traces of 1.9 and/or 3.0 and downgrade to 1.8 and/or Firefox 2.0 and try again.

It works, thanks. I had firefox 2 (default gutsy version) and xulrunner1.8x installed but I had also firefox3.0 beta installed manually and xulrunner 1.9 installed to try to correct this eclipse problem.

I completely removed firefox3 and xulrunner 1.9 and eclipse launched fine !

Thank you for your help
