Go to http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/ and pick a version of the JEE ganymede bundle (I picked linux).

The download page has no mirrors listed, only the main site. Click on that, and it hangs trying to load the item.

This looks like two separate issues.

1. Mirrors missing. I have no idea why they are gone.

2. Main site (Canada) has routing and/or connection problems:

Resulting problems:
- Eclipse / Ganymede download not working
- Update Manager / P2 repositories for Eclipse not working
- Using the director app to install from other repositories not working, because it hangs trying to get information from the eclipse repository beforehand

We are currently having issues with Apache on the downloads cluster.

Actually only 1 issue -- no mirrors, so the Main Site is absolutely swamped.

I've restored the mirrors list; however, it seems p2 is 'caching' an empty mirrors list for a long time, as it is taking long for us to recover.

I'll close this as fixed, as I've restored the mirrors. The dust will slowly settle.

cc'ing pascal on the p2 caching topic. I am pretty surprised that there are so many people downloading stuff via p2 and that those people all happened to get their mirror list in the exact time window when the mirror file was deleted. Do you know for sure that it is p2 related? If so then this is perhaps an unexpected usecase or scenario that we should account for somehow.

The window was quite large ... The mirror list was essentially empty since Monday 5:30pm till Tuesday 9:00am... a little over 15 hours.

It's an educated guess. It took us well over 3 hours to see a significant dip in traffic, and the large bulk of requests came from "Java/1.6.x", not Mozilla/x. I've cleared the mirror list before, intentionally, and for longer periods of time (to test bandwidth/routing etc) and never has it taken so long to recover.

Although this week is back to reality (from summer holidays) for many, so a natural increase in traffic to our site is not at all far-fetched.

Does p2 cache the list of mirrors? If so, for how long?

We’re 14 days later now, and I still can’t get p2 to behave properly. Could this still be the aftermath of this bug, or is it another one? Eclipse is spitting the following at the command line:

[Fatal Error] :72374:3060: Premature end of file.
[Fatal Error] :33298:5429: Premature end of file.
[Fatal Error] :8662:76: Premature end of file.
Eclipse: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.0.

And a lot more of those Fatal Errors, with other numbers.
