Description Kevin McGuire CLA 2008-08-16 17:14:17 EDT
One common source of build errors is that the committer has a JDK level that differs from the one we build against. Add to that, even a well intentioned committer who uses a later JDK and tries to set up their workspace in compatibility mode often gets it wrong (I've seen this many times).

Could these two items please be added to the FAQ [1]:
1) JDK level used for automated builds
2) How to set up your devel environment to ensure you're matching the JDK level that the build uses.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
