Per the termination review slides (see URL):

The actions to be taken to archive the MDDi project:
 - Zip up and remove these directories from the CVS:
 - /cvsroot/technology/org.eclipse.mddi
 - /cvsroot/org.eclipse/org.eclipse.mddi
 - Mark the 2 open bugs in Bugzilla as WONTFIX
 - Archive and close for further submission the Modeling > MDDi bugzilla
component
 - Archive the MDDi portion of the dashboard
 - Archive the MDDi wiki page http://wiki.eclipse.org/Mddi

Thanks.

Rich, we are still working on the best way to handle a project termination/archive. Now that a project lead can use the Portal to remove committers, we think it might work best if the first step in this process is to ask the PL to use the Portal to do this.

This is then followed by opening the bug, assigning it to Webmaster with a cc to Sharon Corbett and emo, and listing in the bug what should be done to archive the project.

So now we're moving a bit backwards because I didn't think of this before, but would you mind going to the Portal and removing the committers? Let us know if you have trouble doing that. Tom is listed as the PL; I'm not clear on whether you are able to remove committers as a PMC member.

Thanks.

Done.
Comment 3 Denis Roy CLA 2008-08-25 15:54:54 EDT
I've archived the files, including download content, to:

http://archive.eclipse.org/modeling/OLD/mddi-archive.tar.gz

I've marked the bugs as WONTFIX, and have moved them to our standard Eclipse Foundation/z_Archived component, which is closed to new bugs.

I've also marked the project as Archived/Inactive in our internal database, and that information will propagate to the website later.

The mddi mailing list and newsgroup are scheduled for deletion; however, their respective archives will remain as-is.

I think we're done here.

What about archiving the website [1] / linking to the archived code [2] ?

I updated the status to "archived" in the file that shows project status for the web pages, and I changed the name of the project in the internal db to append "[archived]" to the name.

I'm not sure of precisely what these actions do, but they're part of the project archiving procedure, so I did 'em.
