The output for the file search (ctrl-h, or search - file...) is great.

It would be nice to have a key shortcut combination that would give you the results of a search on the currently selected word in the current buffer. Plus maybe another shortcut what would give you the results of a search on the currently currently selected word in all open buffers. I have in mind something that would work without any intermediate dialog box. You invoke the shortcut and the results appear in the Search results window.

This is already available, see menu Search > Text > File.
On the 'Keys' preference page, you can assign a shortcut to 'Find Text in File'.

Unfortunately, this does not work via the search dialog, see bug 108247.
