Currently there is a couple of export categories (CVS settings, installed JREs) but it is not possible f.e. to export java settings (code style, members sort order).

Some property pages contain export/import facilities, but I believe general solution should exist.

Usage scenario: people may want to distribute various kinds of preferences in large companies without modifying another ones (f.e. force all people to use specific error/warnings configuration but do not touch font sizes).

AFAIK something is planned for e4 (modeled preferences).
