The SDK IU represents the complete SDK. It represents everything you get in the SDK zip. As such, its deletion should lead to the complete removal of eclipse (you can witness this if you are uninstalling this IU from another instance of eclipse using the director application). Eventually the uninstallation of this IU will be protected. There is nothing to do here. The problem is in having the ability at install time / build time to lock the IU such that it not uninstallable. This is being covered in bug #227688. Two other related issues that would have to solved if we wanted to have this ability are #198742 and #210880, and we would probably have to define a relationship between the products. Not for tpday nor for tomorrow :) *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 227688 *** |
Created attachment 103810 [details] log in configuration dir SDK RC3 If you remove the SDK via Help->Software Updates it leaves the install in a state where it won't startup. I was expecting one of the following: 1) By "SDK" we mean JDT, PDE, etc. and I'm left with the kinds of things you'd find under New->General (vanilla projects, files, etc). 2) It wouldn't let me if it would mean that the install would become inoperable. See attached log which you're pointed to when you try to startup.
