Description Jeff CLA 2008-06-04 19:57:22 EDT
I originally reported this in a comment in an existing Tasktop bug report (see the end of this description) about subtasks, but I don't want it to get lost as it deserves its own bug report (unless I'm simply missing something obvious here).

This is critically important particularly because, as I understand it, Mik is vehemently opposed to sub-*categories* (I've only briefly glanced at some of the bug reports in which he discusses the reasons, but I'm still not sold on not having that feature), so I am forced to use the subtask mechanism to create pseudo-categories/containers in the form of parent tasks with 0 for the estimate, and scheduled and due dates cleared out (when I remember to do that), and then create the actual work to do as subtasks. But I can't even use the Scheduled Task Presentation to plan my work since subtasks simply do not show up.

As I reported below, I'm using an early access build of Tasktop. I'm not sure if that also includes an early access build of Mylyn, but my exact version of Mylyn is 2.3.2.v20080402-2100.

BTW, here is my original comment on this from the Tasktop bug report:

Subtasks don't even show up in the Scheduled View for me. For instance I have some scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday) and when using the Scheduled View, the subtasks scheduled for Thursday are not showing up no matter what I try ("Focus on Workweek" on/off, parent of subtask scheduled for Thursday also, parent of subtask marked complete). From the description of this bug report, it sounds like the reporter is at least *seeing* the subtasks in the Scheduled View. So what am I doing wrong here?

BTW, I'm running Tasktop (Eclipse plugin) "Spring 2008 Update 2 Early Access", according to the "Tasktop Home" view and there are no updates available. So maybe it's something with the Early Access build?

Jeff, I've just tested against the latest Mylyn 3.0 code base without failure. I will test again with the version of Mylyn you are using just to ensure I can reproduce there.

Jeff, I'm unable to reproduce here. Please give the latest EA a try and if you are still having troubles we can continue trouble shooting on https://tasktop.com/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=317.

I am still seeing this problem, exactly as described in comment #6. I'm currently running Tasktop version 1.2.0.I20080718-1600 and Mylyn 3.0.1.v20080721-2000-e33 (some of the features list the last part of that version as "e3x").

Still having same issue (comment #6) with Tasktop version 1.2.0.v20080723-1500 and Mylyn 3.0.1.v20080721-2100-e33 (with some features at version 3.0.1.v20080721-2100-e3x). Should we take this to a new bug report or re-open my Mylyn bug report (https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=235729) or reopen this one?

Please reopen https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=235729 and post any more steps you might have to reproduce.

Can you reproduce this problem with local tasks / sub tasks?
Comment 4 Jeff CLA 2008-07-31 02:18:46 EDT
I can *only* produce this problem with *local* tasks/subtasks. In fact, I was finally able to see the local subtask in the scheduled Task Presentation when I set the working set to "Show All". Of course, I have the category containing the subtask included in the working set I was using, but when using a specific working set, it simply does not show up ever in the Scheduled view. I went so far as to create a new Working Set and included every Task and Resource and selected that as the active Working Set and still the local subtask did not show up in the scheduled view (even though I have both the scheduled date and due date on it set for today). But doing the same thing for a Bugzilla subtask, as long as I had the appropriate query in which the subtask was contained as part of the working set, and set the scheduled and/or due date for this week, it would show up in the Scheduled view.

Let me know if you need any more info from me to help debug this problem.

Thanks.

Thanks for your patience with this Jeff. Based on your feedback in comment#4 I am able to reproduce and should have this fixed for next week's builds (both Mylyn and Tasktop EA).

Fixed. Thanks again for your patience and persistence with this Jeff!
