Steps To Reproduce:
1. Set editor colors with a black background. The caret will be white whether or not we use a custom caret.
2. Select a Java API element in a source file.
3. Press F1 to open Help/Related Topics. At this point the caret is still visible.
4. Click on "Javadoc for ...". API page appears. Caret still visible.
5. Close Help View. The caret disappears (probably turns black, because it does not happen with my light gray background).
6. We need to switch editors or OS windows back and forth for the caret to reappear.

More information:
It does not happen all the time with a docked Help view, but sometimes does. However, with a full-screen detached view, it is always like this.

Can reproduce. I suspect the Browser widget is causing this. See bug 181410 for a similar issue that got fixed in 3.3.

I can reliably reproduce this in I20100121-0800:

- new workspace
- New > Untitled Text File
- paste this link: https://bugs.eclipse.org/235253
- Ctrl+Click the link
- when the internal browser editor has finished loading, click into the browser widget
- click the "Untitled 1" tab
- close the browser editor tab by clicking its close box or via middle-click
