Description Willian Mitsuda CLA 2008-05-24 17:55:18 EDT
In a clean installation of Eclipse 3.4 RC2, open P2, and add the Mylyn 3.0 RC update site (http://download.eclipse.org/tools/mylyn/update/dev/e3.4).

I don't know the logic behind P2, but after computing available updates, it shows updates from weekly 3.3 and 3.4 update sites.

If you open "Manage Sites", you will see 4 updates sites were added: 3.4 RC, weekly 3.3, 3.4 and extras.
Comment 1 Steffen Pingel CLA 2008-05-24 18:05:06 EDT
Thanks for pointing that out Willian. The update sites point to the weekly sites in the header:

<site>
 <description url="http://download.eclipse.org/tools/mylyn/update/weekly/e3.4">
 ...

I'll look into fixing these URLs as part of the build process.
Comment 2 Willian Mitsuda CLA 2008-05-24 18:21:39 EDT
I noted that. But I don't understand why it also pointed to 3.3 and extras, since I found no information about them.
Comment 3 Steffen Pingel CLA 2008-05-24 18:25:22 EDT
These are contributed by the Mylyn Task List feature. I am not sure where the 3.3 update site is coming from though. Do you have an XPlanner installed? It seems to have the wrong URL in its feature.
Comment 4 Willian Mitsuda CLA 2008-05-24 18:40:20 EDT
I can reproduce it with a clean installation, with nothing Mylyn-related installed, simply by adding (http://download.eclipse.org/tools/mylyn/update/dev/e3.4) update site.

Adding this one, adds the other 3 too. They are not added the same time, though. You can see the progress bar working, and each one is added progressively. I guess some feature is contributing the wrong site.
Comment 5 Steffen Pingel CLA 2008-05-24 18:56:06 EDT
I can not reproduce this with Eclipse SDK 3.4 RC1 I20080516-1333. I only get the dev update site. What is your exact Eclipse version?
Comment 6 Willian Mitsuda CLA 2008-05-24 18:59:13 EDT
3.4 RC2. It was released today, AFAIK.
Comment 7 Steffen Pingel CLA 2008-05-24 19:04:17 EDT
Wow, I'm falling behind ;). Downloading RC2 now...

Mylyn 3.0.0.I20080524-2200 is propagating to mirrors now and should be available from the dev update site within the hour.
Comment 8 Steffen Pingel CLA 2008-05-24 19:43:58 EDT
The new Mylyn build should now be available from the dev update site. P2 will automatically add these sites which is correct:

 http://download.eclipse.org/tools/mylyn/update/e3.4
 http://download.eclipse.org/tools/mylyn/update/extras

Some features pointed to a non-existing experimental site which will be fixed in the next build.

Comment 10 Willian Mitsuda CLA 2008-05-25 19:16:53 EDT
I'm still getting the 3.3 update site (http://download.eclipse.org/tools/mylyn/update/e3.3) right now (I tested with a clean installation to be sure).
Comment 11 Steffen Pingel CLA 2008-05-25 19:24:21 EDT
Yes, I have seen that happen as well. My suspicion is that it is getting an old XPlanner feature from http://download.eclipse.org/tools/mylyn/update/extras that links to the e3.3 site. Mik, should change the integration features to point to the weekly site and only link to the default update site for actual release versions?

That sounds reasonable to me.
Comment 13 Steffen Pingel CLA 2008-11-15 19:25:17 EST
This would require substantial changes to the build process and testing. We currently do not have the resources to pursue this. Lowering priority for now.
Comment 14 Steffen Pingel CLA 2009-07-24 04:45:52 EDT
I think we are good with the current behavior and P2 does less auto-enabling of update sites in Eclipse 3.5.
