Build ID: M20071023-1652 Steps To Reproduce: public class A { public void m(Object o) {} void n() { m("abc"); } } public class B extends A { void n(Object o) {} } Renaming n in B to m issues warning in preview that this will shadow m in A, where it actually overrides it. Perhaps nevertheless a valid message (I am not sure whether the definition of shadowing includes this case) but in any case confusing. More information:
