Description Nick Boldt CLA 2008-05-12 15:28:39 EDT
As discussed in this thread, it would be awesome if the Portal code was in CVS so that people could contribute patches.

cc'ing Gunnar, as he asked about this too.
Comment 2 Doug Gaff CLA 2008-05-29 10:13:54 EDT
I have another reason for this to be in CVS (and licensed under EPL).

I would like to use some of the ideas, if not some of the code itself, for a membership database and portal for my church.

Seems like this is precisely how you would like Eclipse code to be used - for the benefit of other non-profits.

+1

This is a Mike decision, so assigning this bug to him.
Comment 5 Karl Matthias CLA 2009-04-20 14:03:27 EDT
I still think this would be a real boon to the community.

Some progress has been made towards resolving this bug. Take a look at the Eclipse project proposal for the Portal.

We're looking at ways to move away from the home-grown Portal and onto something more generic, so investing effort into making this OSS is pointless.
