Description Max Rydahl Andersen CLA 2008-05-08 14:25:57 EDT
Build ID: Ganymede M7

Steps To Reproduce:
Have alot of projects open (e.g. we have close to a hundred PDE projects) with errors in.

fix an error, click save and now I get *alot* of "validation monitor" jobs just sitting there waiting with 0% ....and then suddenly they are gone and some of the valdiation markers are still on the files but the problem view is empty.

This did not happen under e.g. Eclipse 3.3.

here is a screenshot of it.

I'm not sure what else information I can provide...it is not always happening but when it does it is rather slow and disruptive ;(

What makes you think that this is coming form JDT?
Comment 3 Martin Aeschlimann CLA 2008-05-09 03:51:14 EDT
Darin, is this maybe PDE or API tooling?
Comment 4 Max Rydahl Andersen CLA 2008-05-09 05:42:37 EDT
JDT was my guess because of the generic name of the "Validation monitor".

If it is in PDE or WTP instead then we should move it there.
Comment 5 Darin Wright CLA 2008-05-09 09:20:02 EDT
I do not recognize these as API Tooling. Chris, do you recognize these as PDE's?
Comment 6 Dani Megert CLA 2008-05-09 09:23:27 EDT
I suspect this is not coming from the SDK: I have almost everything in source and couldn't find that string.
Comment 7 Chris Aniszczyk CLA 2008-05-09 10:20:51 EDT
Doesn't looking familiar to me... maybe WTP SSE?

Nitin?
Comment 8 Nitin Dahyabhai CLA 2008-05-09 14:45:12 EDT
Not this time, they come from WTP Validation-- org.eclipse.wst.validation/property_files/org/eclipse/wst/validation/internal/messages.properties to be exact. Gary, there needs to be some throttling here, or cases where it doesn't exit so quickly could bog down the entire O.S.

I'd suggest to also change the label to an action ('Validating XY...') and to be more specific, so the user knows what the job does.

I'm not sure what you want to fill in for "XY". It is really waiting for all the validation to be complete. By "all the validation", I mean all the validators, for all the changed resources.

I still do need to investigate why there is more than one job. I suspect that that is an error.

I am in the process of cleaning up the Validation Framework defects. Could you please close this Bugzilla. If I don't hear back within 7 days,
I will assume that everything is OK, and will close it.
