Similarly to the bug 228503, it would be great if we can create a password provider to integrate with Linux. 

I possible path could be an integration with the Gnome keyring (assuming it is provided by default in Linux OSes supported by Eclipse SDK).

The GNOME keyring is provided by Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 and 5 and SLES 10 AFAIK.
