Description

Is that even possible? Investigate. Could it be caused simply by the use of eclipse.exe ? I.e., if I changed that to foobar.exe would the task bar say "Foobar"? Then even more strange things happen. If I rename eclipse.exe to gdfsuite.exe, then two new copies named eclipse.exe and eclipse_alt.exe are created. Why is that so!? It's so strange that I almost couldn't belive it. Furthermore, the when using a renamed exe file, the command line args are not passed to the second startup. Looks like I'm opening a whole can of worms. Ed or Frank, could one of you verify that recompiling the exe like indicated in http://www.eclipse.org/articles/Article-Branding/branding-your-application.html fixes the problem and does not exhibit other problems? Wow, a blast from the past. This is likely quite different now. Having said that, we are very keen for 3.1 to ensure that eclipse.exe (or some wrapper) can be correctly branded for your application to have the right icon (on the desktop for example), the right task registration info (in the task bar for example), etc etc. Bumping up the priority and severity... I think this has been (is being) covered by bug 76855 and the -name argument? I agree with #6. Yes I agree, but as I haven't seen it yet I'd rather let the bug open. What I mean is, with the new launcher it no longer shows "Eclipse" in the Windows task bar. It shows whatever you specified with -name (or renamed the native launcher to). I just recently tried this out in 3.1M4. So this request appears to me to be fixed. For more info see: http://www.eclipsepowered.org/archives/2005/01/05/using-native-launcher/ . Pascal to verify and close. verified |
