Description Nick Edgar CLA 2001-10-10 22:31:50 EDT
In Windows Explorer and elsewhere you can rename an item by selecting it, waiting for the double-click delay to pass, then selecting it again.
This doesn't work in the Navigator.

PRODUCT VERSION:
110 JDK

Comment 2 Nick Edgar CLA 2002-01-25 22:25:41 EST
Should do as part of cut/copy/paste improvements.
Should also do in packages view if we do this.
Comment 3 Randy Giffen CLA 2002-03-22 15:31:20 EST
Implemented in ResourceNavigatorRenameAction
Moving to JDT for consideration of similar in packages view.
Comment 4 Erich Gamma CLA 2002-03-24 16:03:33 EST
rename a Java element is more involved that a resource due to refactoring,
i.e., we need to be able to show errors and surface options.
Since we do not plan to support in place editing for 2.0, this one has to be
deferred as well.

Comment 5 Randy Giffen CLA 2002-03-25 09:49:01 EST
Backed out of the fix and moved back to Platform UI
See "Bug 2518 should be able to rename by clicking twice (1GFFEKT)"
for a number of problems with the solution. This appears to be a hard problem
to solve in a platform independent way.
Comment 6 Randy Giffen CLA 2002-08-08 10:02:37 EDT
Reopen for investigation
