eclipse install problem log

Steps to reproduce:

0. start up Eclipse 3.4 I20080324-1300 (linux gtk), with Sun 5.0
1. download EMF 2.4 All-in-one SDK zip (latest I or N build from
http://emf.torolab.ibm.com/modeling/emf/downloads/?project=emf&sortBy=date&hlbuild=0#latest)
2. Help > Software Updates... >
   Available Features > Manage sites... >
   Add... > Archive... >
   Browse for emf-sdo-xsd-SDK-*.zip
   Expand? [Yes].
   Click [OK]
3. Select "Other" twisty. [Install...] button is greyed out. It would be nice if I could just install all the IUs in that category.
4. CTRL-A (select all). [Install...] button is STILL greyed out.
5. CTRL-click on "Other" twisty to deselect it while other IUs are still selected. NOW the [Install...] button is activated.
6. Click [Install...]. Click Finish.
7. As in bug 223920, installation fails. See attached log.

FYI, here's my Eclipse "clean install & workspace test" startup script:

----

#!/bin/bash
workspace=/tmp/workspace-clean-34
pushd ~/eclipse/34clean >/dev/null
if [[ $# -eq 0 ]]; then
        rm -fr eclipse $workspace
        #eclipse=eclipse-SDK-3.4M5-linux-gtk.tar.gz
        eclipse=eclipse-SDK-I20080324-1300-linux-gtk.tar.gz
        echo "Unpack $eclipse...";
        tar xzf $eclipse
fi

vm=/opt/sun-java2-5.0/bin/java
#vm=/opt/ibm-java2-5.0/bin/java

echo "Using vm=$vm and workspace=$workspace"; ./eclipse/eclipse -vm $vm -data $workspace -consolelog &
popd >/dev/null
