The previous fix brings back unbalanced borders on WinXP.

Fix 3 - no margins, looks good on the Mac
Applied previous patch with two modifications: 1. removed the -1 which is yet another platform bug/specialty 2. added platform dependent code for WindowsXP Benno, please test the code from HEAD under Vista.
