Description Keith Chong CLA 2008-03-18 13:26:55 EDT
Scenario 1:

Project with no validation builder added. A depends on B. If I make a change in B and save, A is not validated at all.

Scenario 2 (with validation builder added so dependency validation can be tested):

A depends on B, and A has an error introduced by a change in B.

If you undo the change in B and save, then A is validated and the error is removed from the problems view, but the error marker overlay is still attached to file A.
Comment 1 Keith Chong CLA 2008-03-18 17:33:40 EDT
Correction, the error message is still in the Problems View.
Comment 2 Keith Chong CLA 2008-03-18 19:38:13 EDT
BTW, the ValidationResult returned back to the validation framework contains no messages.

This strikes me as an edge case. If there is no builder then it can't be validated since the validation framework is builder based.

If the user really wants these validated, there is an easy way to add the builder through the GUI.

Is there a common case where a builder is not added by default?

Retract scenario 1, since I do believe it is invalid.

I am in the process of cleaning up the Validation Framework defects. Could you please close this Bugzilla. If I don't hear back within 7 days,
I will assume that everything is OK, and will close it.
