Description Willian Mitsuda CLA 2008-02-15 16:48:02 EST
Even if you have task working sets activated, you get notifications for all tasks.

I think it should display only notifications for tasks contained in the current working sets. Notification popups are a intrusive feature, and should be used carefully to not annoy the user.

I'm currently -1 on this suggestion, because the notifications are one of the few things that we have which are intended to distract the user into considering a switch to another task. For example, if I have my personal working set selected, but see a notification with a blocker bug from Mylyn, I might need to switch into the Mylyn working set.

However, I could see us making this an option, especially if we figure out a way to visually indicate how many incomings are present on non-active working sets.
Comment 2 Willian Mitsuda CLA 2008-02-19 13:57:34 EST
Well, the problem is the level of distraction the user is willing to accept :)

Actually, Mylyn provides all or nothing. An mid-level would be "only from active working sets".

We can make this an preference.
Comment 3 Mik Kersten CLA 2008-02-20 21:05:54 EST
Agreed.
Comment 4 Mik Kersten CLA 2008-05-14 20:15:19 EDT
Need to defer this, we can consider for 3.1.
Comment 5 Mik Kersten CLA 2009-02-26 19:44:17 EST
This is a more involved task that will require a notification preference UI. Not currently a priority.
Comment 6 Mik Kersten CLA 2009-07-24 11:50:22 EDT
Not planning to do this, but others interested can vote.

Mylyn has been restructured, and our issue tracking has moved to GitHub [1].

We are closing ~14K Bugzilla issues to give the new team a fresh start. If you feel that this issue is still relevant, please create a new one on GitHub.
