I'm doing some cleanup in my task list and noted the performance of mark as read is very bad.

I did some tests invoking mark as read in a query with +1000 tasks and, besides apparently running it in UI thread blocking the UI for some seconds, it takes much time, IMHO. Even if you have 0 tasks unread, it takes some seconds.

Also, I noted it provokes very much I/O on disk. During all the time the UI remains frozen, my HD stays working.

Yes, I have noticed that as well. Marking a task as read causes the task data to get loaded for each task hence the I/O.
