Rakshith, I can't see the attachment (can't open RAR files). I can see what you're talking about by: - Open an HTML file and a java file. - With the HTML file as the active editor resize the Perspective Switcher to leave -just enough- space to not wrap the main toolbar. - Click on the java file (whose editor needs more TB space Hi Eric, You are exactly right in interpreting what i meant to to say.I think this defect just needs swapping of some lines of code. When can we expect this to be fixed? Rakshith, do you know which lines? The problem is that the SWT resizing events are not all handled in the same place, causing some cyclic behavior (which is what leads to the eventual 'jitter'). If it were trivial to fix it'd already be done. I'm not sure exactly when this will get done, there are currently more important defects on our plates. I may have to eventually move this off of 3.4 onto a later release depending on how many other issues I have to deal with (unless someone supplies a patch, which I'd be more than happy to review...;-). This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant. -- The automated Eclipse Genie. This bug has been marked with as "stalebug" for some time now. I mark this bug as "worksforme" to indicate that no work is planned here. If this bug is still relevant for the latest release, please reopen the bug and remote the "stalebug" whiteboard tag. |
Created attachment 83759 [details] Single_Row_Menubar has active page editor view(Cursur is in the html file) Double_Row_Menubar has package view as active view.Hence the difference in the number of menu items. When there is a change in the number of rows in the Menubar or Toolbar, the views in the workbench shakes. This is caused because whenever a row is added - First the entire set of views is pushed down. - Then the dimensions of the views gets readjusted to the area available. So the views at the bottom (problems view in the attatched picture) goes down first, gets its dimensions readjusted and again comes above. This causes a Shaking effect. This can be avoided if the available area is calculated just before adding a row and then the views are adjusted to the new dimensions directly at one go rather than pushing it down and then reorganising the dimensions. This also holds for the contrary case where a row is reduced.
