Description maarten meijer CLA 2007-11-22 14:19:24 EST
The priority and context markers overlap when using the 'Go Into' presentation on a Repository Query.
This looks bad and is confusing.

same ui on windows

They overlap on Windows too, but not as bad.
BTW, notice the weird row rendering, with the blank area on the right (not expanding to scroll bar when it is hidden).

Leo: could you attach the latest look of this on OSX?

Subtask

The same problem exists on the Mac when a container holds some sub-task; in that case the arrow to expand/collapse the tree overlaps with the activation button in the exact same way. I think the activation button just needs to be a few pixels to the left.

Same issue also exist on Linux, specifically Ubuntu Hardy KDE.

Since also the Windows platform is a bit affected, I suggest to change Platform/OS to "All."

Sorry, did not see the "[Linux]" tag...

Another example on Linux. Not sure why this one is so hard to get right across the various platforms as I would think this would be handled with a table widget or something, but it really is annoying.

Thanks for the screenshot Dave. Mylyn custom draws the images and the space available in trees varies across platforms and themes. Are you running the latest Ubuntu with the default theme?

Yes, latest Ubuntu with default theme.
Comment 12 Mik Kersten CLA 2011-03-09 13:48:18 EST
Dave: We have no easy fix to consider here since your theme has so little padding. Maybe when we detect that little padding we move the overlays or get rid of them?

The thing is it shouldn't matter based on theme. I would think adding things as an extension of a column/table wizard, might make this more cross platform friendly. The question then comes how does it handle it with e4 when people can start adding custom CSS and skins?

I'm no UI expert, and I haven't stayed at a Holiday Inn Express. So I leave it to your better judgement, but it just looks nasty as it currently stands.

Go into looking better now on Mac

New screenshot from Kepler 431 on OSX 10.9

Is it time to close this bug as resolved?
Comment 17 Leo Dos Santos CLA 2014-03-12 19:24:08 EDT
I think this has been ok on Mac for a long time now, but I believe it's still an issue on Linux where theming provides more variance in the padding and customization of tree widgets. I've updated the title and platform attributes to reflect this is no longer a Mac OS bug.

Mylyn has been restructured, and our issue tracking has moved to GitHub [1].

We are closing ~14K Bugzilla issues to give the new team a fresh start. If you feel that this issue is still relevant, please create a new one on GitHub.
