Description Pascal Rapicault CLA 2007-11-02 22:09:26 EDT
Even though bundles are stored in a pool, we can't prevent eclipse applications using those to corrupt the files (for example org.eclipse.pde.build bundle is stored as a folder and I have seen cases where people modify the content).

In order to offer a recovery from these corruptions, we need to have a utility that will verify the integrity of the artifacts stored in repositories.

See also bug #208644 for an example of the pb we would like this tool to catch. In this particular case the artifact dl'ed in the cache looks good (even though it is not), therefore the artifact descriptor is present, however in reality it is corrupted.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.

I don't see where such a thing would be used if it did exist.
