Description Fabian Wein CLA 2007-10-29 10:32:13 EDT
There is only one Linux bundle download:
  eclipse-cpp-europa-fall-linux-gtk.tar.gz

For 64bit Linux (eg. Opteron but also Core2) one needs a search for
  eclipse-SDK-3.3.1.1-linux-gtk-x86_64.tar.gz
and then remove java parts and install CDT.

This, combined with a 64bit Java is the only way to run CDT
on 64bit Linux. Especially for beginners it is hard to find this
solution as the errors with the 32 eclipse/Java are subtle.

Now, the download page signals

Eclipse IDE for C/C++ Developers - Linux x86_64 (63 MB)

But the Link is http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/technology/epp/downloads/release/20071103/eclipse-cpp-europa-fall2-linux-gtk.tar.gz

(also not 64bit for the other platforms).

I could only download the 64 bit version by manipulating the URL by hand!!

Assigning to EPP
Comment 4 Markus Knauer CLA 2008-03-07 12:19:16 EST
I think I am going to assign it to the webmasters.

I am not sure if this has been fixed in the meantime. If I am opening the download page http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/ on my computer (which is linux64) I got the correct download links. That said, it works for me now.

The only problem is the link to the different downloads on the right-hand side (Windows, Linux, Mac OS X). The 'Linux' links points to the standard 32 bit version.

On the other hand, I don't think that we should add more links to that page. It should be as simple as possible.

[History: The first Europa packages were not available for linux-64; I changed this with the fall release when I had the chance to give these packages some more testing.]

Indeed, the links are all there, so I'll mark this as a dupe of bug 218081 for the right-hand links.
