Not sure if it is something with my setup or something common, but I find it quite inconvenient to browse png attachments from the task editor. There is no editor in Eclipse that can show png or other images, and it fall to the opening those in the web browser editor, which shows "Action canceled" message, then shows "File Download" dialog for the png attachment and then opens OS-default external image browser. Interestingly, if I refresh that "Action Canceled" web browser, png gets loaded there.

I suggest to add simple editor that would allow to view images from the attachments (as well as other places). Since it is a useful feature for Mylyn workflow and Platform folks aren't planning to support it. See bug 155323

No plans to add an image viewer/editor to Mylyn.  If anyone is interested in contributing this please post and we can discuss UI and integration and use cases.

Fyi, I don't have this problem on Vista and don't recall having it on XP.

PS: What I don't get is why set bug to helpwanted and wonfix at the same time?

I accidentally marked this as helpwanted, before realizing that it was most likely out of scope for the project.  I can provide a description after 2.1 goes out.  The thing we have to be extremely careful about is making generic image viewing editor facilities something that Mylyn provides because that would impose too much maintenance burden on the project.  But there is a chance that we can do this via a better previewing UI.

Mik, I recall that Mylyn already does working around certain Platform limitations, and simple image viewer won't be any maintenance, especially because it is directly related to the attachment browsing workflow and it would be also useful from other Eclipse UI (i.e. browse pictures directly from CVS/SVN repository and history views)
