Description Alexander N. Alexeev CLA 2007-08-20 02:43:19 EDT
Priority and order in which filters applied isn't clear.
User can be confused follow examples aren't the same and

the right order is:
spec.jbb  *  INCLUDE
*         *  EXCLUDE

the wrong order is:
*         *  EXCLUDE
spec.jbb  *  INCLUDE

Approved by the AG for TPTP 4.5 with the following comments:

-Requires a documentation review after complete.
-Is the sizing too low? This is clearly important and it should be done right. I propose doubling the sizing.
-The attached news group post really illustrates the benefits of open-source (free, constructive, and invaluable user feedback).
-This content should be accessible as a cheat sheet, context help, and possibly a tutorial. It should be the only source of documentation for doing efficient profiling using TPTP.

How we should arrange that?
> -Is the sizing too low? This is clearly important and it should be done right.

I agree. Could someone update FDD in CVS?

Sorry for such a late reply.

> > -Requires a documentation review after complete.
> How we should arrange that?

Since we do not have a Information Development person/team on the project, we typically have other committers in the project and familiar with the component review the technical content. We also have less experienced committers/users review the documentation for readability and conciseness.

Done.

Rather than deferring this, how about simply saying in the dialog that the first match in the sequence is used.

These are the normal patterns used in many filtering situations such as firewalls etc..

This would work. Ideally this statement with a clickable link to the wiki or web that gives more detail or examples.

Thx,
Chris

Mass update of P1 enhancements and defects targetted to future to P2.
Comment 7 Paul Slauenwhite CLA 2009-06-30 06:38:15 EDT
As of TPTP 4.6.0, TPTP is in maintenance mode and focusing on improving quality by resolving relevant defects and increasing test coverage through test creation, automation, Build Verification Tests (BVTs), and expanded run-time execution. As such, TPTP is not delivering enhancements. As part of the TPTP Bugzilla housecleaning process (see http://wiki.eclipse.org/Bugzilla_Housecleaning_Processes), this enhancement is resolved as WONTFIX. For this enhancement to be considered, please re-open with an attached patch including the Description Document (see http://www.eclipse.org/tptp/home/documents/process/development/description_documents.html), code (see http://www.eclipse.org/tptp/home/documents/resources/TPTPDevGuide.htm), and test cases (see http://www.eclipse.org/tptp/home/documents/process/TPTP_Testing_Strategy.html).

As part of the TPTP Bugzilla housecleaning process (see http://wiki.eclipse.org/Bugzilla_Housecleaning_Processes), this enhancement/defect is verified/closed by the Project Lead since this enhancement/defect has been resolved and unverified for more than 1 year and considered to be fixed. If this enhancement/defect is still unresolved and reproducible in the latest TPTP release (http://www.eclipse.org/tptp/home/downloads/), please re-open.
