Description Martin Oberhuber CLA 2007-07-31 14:27:14 EDT
The Wiki is so painfully slow today that I practically cannot use it.

I suppose it's due to the backend server outage, but while Bugzilla is OK for me the Wiki is really a problem today.
Comment 1 Karl Matthias CLA 2007-07-31 14:36:57 EDT
We're limited to one box at the moment, so there could be intermittent slowness until we've recovered the other system which Denis is working on at the moment. When you say you "can't use it" I assume that you mean you can't save pages quickly? Usability seems fine to me for reading pages.
Comment 2 Martin Oberhuber CLA 2007-07-31 14:43:07 EDT
Yes. Logging in, saving a page or getting a preview take about one minute each, on average. That's close to impossible to work, but I'd like to get my meeting minutes / agenda updated.

Anything PHP with sessions is affected by what's happening now. Surfing the Wiki while not being logged in does not exhibit this problem.

While the one backend server has crashed and remains offline, the current backend is also having a problem with file locks. Happened at 6:26am this morning.

Everything just seems to happen at once. We'll just need to be patient while we work these problems out.
Comment 4 Denis Roy CLA 2007-07-31 21:51:34 EDT
I've tossed PHP session info on a different server temporarily while we fix this. I'll leave this open until it is resolved permanently.

This is also affecting Planet as well, as the type of file lock that Planet requests isn't available. Planet is currently not updating.
Comment 6 Chris Aniszczyk CLA 2007-08-01 09:18:52 EDT
When planet doesn't update, my day is incomplete :(
Comment 7 Chris Aniszczyk CLA 2007-08-01 09:19:18 EDT
btw, thanks for looking into this so fast guys.
Comment 8 Martin Oberhuber CLA 2007-08-01 12:48:13 EDT
Thanks for finding a workaround so quickly. The Wiki has really been usable as normal today.

I should also mention that although it had been painfully slow, I had never been disconnected or lost any data. Eventually it all worked, although I had had partially 8 Wiki Edit Save requests open in parallel.

Denis, Karl, Matt & Team - you folks are awesome!
Comment 9 Denis Roy CLA 2007-08-02 16:05:26 EDT
We've switched to our broken but updated backend server, so this is inherently fixed.

FYI, the Wiki is relatively slow again today with frequent timeouts when done editing. Today, that's Servertime Tue 5-Aug-2008 at 10am EDT (4pm CEST)
