What if we made Alt+click on the activate radio button brought the task editor to the top? If possible that should be consistent for all controls that activate tasks (activation history in trim widget, activate task dialog...). (In reply to comment #2) > If possible that should be consistent for all controls that activate tasks > (activation history in trim widget, activate task dialog...). +1 Those interested in this feature should vote. This bug has been mostly implemented already (use Shift + Click when activating a task will bring up the task editor). The other thing that was mentioned here (http://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/m/14027/?srch=activate+mode+task#msg_14027) was that task activation for the first time should open the task editor. Please vote if this feature is still a good idea. Mylyn has been restructured, and our issue tracking has moved to GitHub [1]. We are closing ~14K Bugzilla issues to give the new team a fresh start. If you feel that this issue is still relevant, please create a new one on GitHub. [1] https://github.com/orgs/eclipse-mylyn |
It would be good to have a UI option for activating a task that will automatically open the task editor at the top. A quotation from newsgroup: there are two competing use cases for what happens when getting back to a task: 1) Want to see the last thing I worked on (e.g. the exact Java method being edited) and want my workbench look just like it did when I deactivated. 2) Need to be reminded of what the task is a bout (i.e. by looking at the task itself). One option is to use a modifier key with mouse click for this mode. See discussion on the newsgroup: http://dev.eclipse.org/newslists/news.eclipse.tools.mylyn/msg00097.html
