Using version 3.3RC1 With the option to remove unnecessary blocks upon save enabled, a method as follows: public String doSomething(String input) { if (input == null) { input = ""; //$NON-NLS-1$ } return input; } gets converted to: public String doSomething(String input) { if (input == null) input = ""; //$NON-NLS-1$ return input; } I think the best thing to do would be to not move the code from the current line (which is what would happen if there was an "else").
