Note, the best way to add imports is using the ImportRewrite. This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. While adding a new package declaration to compilation unit which under default package, then the code formatting will wrong. CompilationUnit unit; ... ImportDeclaration newImport = unit.getAST().newImportDeclaration(); ... unit.imports().add(newImport); unit.rewrite(document, JavaCore.getOptions()).apply(document); After the above code, the output will likes this: import abc.ccc;public class Class { }
