Description

I fixed this while I was in there. There seems to be some items missing from the list of "Lists and Groups". Some of the tools projects (newsgroup archives) (namely EMF and GEF) don't seem to be in the list. Maybe I'm just blind, so if it works for you let me know. Enough of this nonsense... Let's do this right. When we add/remove mailing lists and newsgroups, we manually edit the search page template. I think we should generate the template from the actual list of groups and lists so that we don't have to worry about whether it's in sync or not. While we do this, we should also have the newsportal's groups.txt file populated automatically too. What I'm working on is a way to eliminate all the manual processes the webmaster needs to do when creating/deleting newsgroups and mailing lists. This means: - adding the appropriate newsgroups to the web newsportal - adding mailing list aliases to our mail server aliases file - creating HTML archives automatically for both groups and lists - adding/removing groups and lists from the advanced search template This should reduce/eliminate manual processes that lead to errors such as the ones outlined in comment 2. This is fixed for good. - I reconciled the list of mailing lists and newsgroups and updated the search engine drop-down - I automated our newsgroup and mailing list creation/deletion tasks to remove all the error-prone manual processes involved Thanks Denis. The on-line newsgroup / mailing list search is a great feature! |
