For an IDE to be my perfect IDE, it has to run and be usable on all of my computers. Including my little Vaio (PCG-C1VE, great in the train). That is, it has to work with a 1024x480 screen. The workbench is OK, the wizards are not always. I don't know (yet) if it can be managed in a general way, or if it depend of each plugin, but a detection of screen size seem to be missing, and would be a very good thing in my case. No plans to change the current behavior. Reopen for investigation Note that the preferences dialog is now resizable. There is code to ensure a dialog does not size larger than the screen. Dialogs should not in general be resizable as dialog designers will then have to keep an eye on thier layouts to be sure they still work at all sizes. I think this would be a can of worms for Eclipse users. Given the amount of code in the dialogs to get good sizing currently I think this is not required and not really very useful. Closing. |
