In 3.3 the platform UI introduced pluggable error handling. It would be interesting to see if Mylar can use that to propose the user to directly open a bug when something wrong happens. See org.eclipse.ui.statushandling (or something like that).

Yes, this is both bug 182776 and the UI parts are bug 183606.  Agreed that it would be useful for Mylar to make use of this, so ware are prioritizing moving to this new API.
