Description Tim Myer CLA 2007-05-30 18:50:33 EDT
We would like to be able to disable the "New Editor" action that automatically appears in the context popup when you right-click an editor tab. Ideally, this item should not even be visible to our users. We are currently programming an RCP application. From the posts I have seen, it appears that this menu item automatically appears for any editor tab that is opened, but we see no need to expose this feature to our users and feel that it decreases the simplicity of our UI. Also, we have found that having two editors open with the same input can lead to confusion for our users, especially when many other editors are open at the same time.

Marking this as dependent on bug #194005 since if we solved the larger problem then we could solve this one too.

Of course this does not preclude a workbench specific solution to turning off the New Editor menu (in which case we remove the dependency).

This looks like a dupe of bug 103045

I am also interested in the ability to disable this action.
