Description Russ White CLA 2007-05-29 11:23:19 EDT
I have several reports where I want some datasets to be CSV exportable, and some not. That is the entire dataset.

I also have some total columns etc which should be omitted from the available fields to export in the CSV export dialog. I could not find any way to do this in the report designer.

Also no response from the support forum, so I am hoping for some feedback here.

if this is already possible I apologize, but perhaps something in BIRT help, or the tutorial would be called for.

Thanks!
Russ

You means you want to export entire dataset even if it isn't used in report content? Could you please give me more detailed information? thanks.
Comment 2 Russ White CLA 2007-06-18 22:21:08 EDT
No actually the reverse. I want to be able to omit entire datasets which while used in the report, should not be exportable.

The same would be true for certain fields from the datasets which are exportable.

Basically it should work the same as it does now for the different views. You can selects that a given element be only visible in the HTML view but not the PDF. You should be able to do the same for CSV etc...

I hope that helps.

Ok, got it. Thanks.
It should be a big change that cross teams.
Comment 4 Jerry Cheng CLA 2008-05-28 23:12:13 EDT
It is cross-team issue. No plan to support it. Need defer it.

+1 for this enhancement. Need model team to add a setting on data set, UI to set it, and viewer to check the setting.

Correction, the setting is on the result set or report item that has the result set.
Comment 7 Wenfeng Li CLA 2008-06-09 19:56:21 EDT
There is another enh proposal to add property setting on result set as well as columns in the result set to indicate if the result set and/or column should be included in the data export list. Engine or data engine will not return the result set/column to UI if the setting == false. No need to make change in viewer UI.

Moving to 2.3.2 release as this requires Model API change.
Comment 9 Gary Xue CLA 2008-10-08 20:24:22 EDT
This has been fixed as part of BUG 158644. To disallow a table/list/data item from being exported, go to the Advanced property for that item, and set "Allow export" to False.
