Description

Let me say that from my experience with Asterisk I think the voice quality is not likely to be consistent. Our bandwidth usage fluctuates too much. Even with Asterisk made a priority service in the router QoS rules it was unreliable. Somes times of day might be fine but others will likely not work well. Not to mention that the XMPP server is hosted on a shared server with other processes. Timed delivery is not critical in text messaging, but in voice it is absolutely critical. If you want to try it please be my guest, I'm just saying it would be good to keep expectations low. Maybe we'll get a happy surprise. You own the server, so feel free to do as you please :) I recently set up asterisk.eclipse.org and provisioned it with SIP lines providing phone numbers in Ottawa, Germany, France, the UK, and a North American toll free line. This may contribute towards satisfying this ticket. There is a network issue that needs to be resolved before we roll this out. Please see: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=371283 (added as a dependency to this ticket) This is not planned. |
