If I create a report using select * from orderdetails.
I then put this table in a report and set the page interval to 10.
I add a column to the table with the expression pageNumber.  The page number gets incremented but the first row in the table always shows the last pagenumber.

The pageNumber is a system defined page varaible, it can only be used in autoText and page scripts. see 159857.
