Description Thomas Watson CLA 2007-05-09 09:32:45 EDT
The org.eclipse.equinox.launcher seems to require that itself and org.eclipse.osgi must be co-located in a directory named 'plugins'. This seems like an arbitrary restriction. Can we support org.eclipse.equinox.launcher and org.eclipse.osgi co-located in any directory name?

There may be a few assumptions that would become invalid if we did this. For example the osgi.install.area may not always be the parent directory of the 'plugins' directory containing org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.

One further point, as noted here:

http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.ide.eclipse.equinox.devel/1652

Must the "configuration" directory be a sibling of "plugins" or whatever directory holds the launcher and org.eclipse.osgi bundle, or can it be someplace else, such as a child directory as expected (by default) by the embedded use of EclipseStarter?
Comment 2 Thomas Watson CLA 2007-05-10 09:28:34 EDT
You can point to a configuration by using the -configuration option.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
